CAUTION: “BOYS OVER FLOWERS” SPOILERS

…Yet still I’m addicted to it like a crackhead.

Lol I have never watched something so poorly written, poorly acted and poorly directed in my entire life. This drama is absolutely horrible, and now that I can talk to people about it, I have found I’m not the only person that thinks so.

Goo Hye Sun can’t act for her freaking life, the plots change every episode and a half and all anyone ever does in this drama is stare at each other. I swear, at least 10 minutes per episode is spent with people having memories and staring at each other—especially Ji Hoo. He is the king of blind staring.

I don’t mean to pick apart the drama—which I love to do on on allkpop chat—but it leaves me with a lot of unanswered questions. Here’s a few to start with:

  1. Why did Woo Bin have that memory on the bridge? What did it have to do to anything? What was Yi Jung talking about in that memory?
  2. Whatever happened to that model/actor guy? Was Jun Pyo’s mother behind the whole scheme?
  3. Who did the actor guy supposedly look like?
  4. Why is everyone in this show deaf and can never hear when someone walks up behind them?
  5. Why does Ga Eul always show up to Yi Jung’s house unannounced?
  6. Why didn’t Yi Jung think of this new pottery girl before?
  7. Why didn’t Jun Pyo just tell Jan Di why he punched out Ga Eul’s ex?
  8. Why would Seo Hyun, a stunning, international actress date a high school senior 5+ years her junior?
  9. Why are Yi Jung, Ji Hoo, Woo Bin and Jun Pyo always at the high school when they should be at university?
  10. Does anyone else hate and love Ha Jae Kyung all at the same time?
  11. Why does Jan Di keep passing out in the snow when she goes looking for Jun Pyo’s neckalace?
  12. Why does Jan Di always end up drowning when she’s supposed to be a champion swimmer? Shouldn’t she know how to tread water? 1st time was a leg cramp, paddle with your arms, 2nd time was shoulder cramp, kick with your legs.
  13. How did the F3 know exaclty where Jan Di was in Macau that they came to save the day?
  14. Did anyone else feel in the beginning, the bulling against Jan Di was TOO intense? Especially when those boys pulled the chain and she flew off of her bike? In real life, Jan Di could have cracked her skull and gotten really hurt—it was TOO unrealistic, right?

I could literally make 100+ questions about this horrible TV show but I’ll leave it here for now. I just finished episode 18 and am waiting for the rest. The only good thing I can say about this show is the great eye candy—mm mm MM! Lee Min Ho<33—I’m enchanted by him, can you tell? (Man of the Moment on him—coming soon!)

But honestly, I’ve only watched 3 dramas in full before (Sam Soon, Full House, Coffee Prince) and several, only seeing the first episode…but this one is really the worst I’ve seen. I’ll be watching it and just say out loud to myself, “THIS SUCKS!”

What makes it more hilarious is that its the #1 hit in Korea! I’m like, are the looks of the F4 boys that great to you that this drama is number 1?!

….Then again, looking at Lee Min Ho, I’d say, yeah, that seems about right.

  1. lalalalalalalala says:

I’m going to answer some of your questions but i do wonder if you actually watched the whole thing cause all your curiosity can be answered in BOF. Those questions that i did NOT answer, i’m not sure what your trying to ask

    1. Why did Woo Bin have that memory on the bridge? What did it have to do to anything? What was Yi Jung talking about in that memory?

    ????

    2. Whatever happened to that model/actor guy? Was Jun Pyo’s mother behind the whole scheme?

Jun Di finds out Jun Pyo’s mother was behind it, after model/actor guy accidentally hits Jan Di he felt bad, and according to the comic he just leaves.

    3. Who did the actor guy supposedly look like?

The actor guy supposedly looked like the guy that jumped off the school building in the first epi Where Jan di held on to on the roof top that guy is the actor/model guy’s brother,

    4. Why is everyone in this show deaf and can never hear when someone walks up behind them?

Cause they think thinking and concentrating on a certain thought?

    5. Why does Ga Eul always show up to Yi Jung’s house unannounced?

Cause she just wants plus Yi Jung didn’t say she can’t come right? everyone shows up there unannounced anyways.. like Yi Jung’s dad and his girlfriend

    6. Why didn’t Yi Jung think of this new pottery girl before?

He meet the pottery girl when they were young, and he liked her a lot, then because of a lot of other things it made it impossible to be with her, and he feels horrible for hurting her so much. That is why he hides his feelings towards her and that is one of the reasons he does not believe in forever love, happy endings etc. Also why he portray himself as a playboy

    7. Why didn’t Jun Pyo just tell Jan Di why he punched out Ga Eul’s ex?

Jun Pyo didn’t tell Jan Di because Ga Eul’s ex was an poop, he told jun pyo to ditch the girls with him and go girl hunting. Jun Pyo did not want Ga Eul find out because she is a really good friend of Jan di plus she finds out herself this also happened in the comic, jap version and Taiwan version of BOF

    8. Why would Seo Hyun, a stunning, international actress date a high school senior 5+ years her junior?

It’s part of the original comic, and it happened in all 3 versions of BOF

    9. Why are Yi Jung, Ji Hoo, Woo Bin and Jun Pyo always at the high school when they should be at university?

Cause the school goes from kindergarten, grade skl, high skl to university ….

    10. Does anyone else hate and love Ha Jae Kyung all at the same time?

    Yes

    11. Why does Jan Di keep passing out in the snow when she goes looking for Jun Pyo’s neckalace?

Cause there was a snow storm, and it’s freezing, your not suppose to be out the storm was so bad to a point they have to close all the ski runs down plus you can’t stay in the cold for too long anyways, it’s hard to breath

    12. Why does Jan Di always end up drowning when she’s supposed to be a champion swimmer? Shouldn’t she know how to tread water? 1st time was a leg cramp, paddle with your arms, 2nd time was shoulder cramp, kick with your legs.

Cause the “actor guy” took Jan Di and made Jun Pyo come out to save her, during that time, Jun Pyo was being beat up by the bad guys then Jan Di came out and blocked the chair that was suppose to hit Jun Pyo by the actor guy. Jan Di then hurt her shoulder and wasn’t able to swim anymore.

    13. How did the F3 know exaclty where Jan Di was in Macau that they came to save the day?

Do you know how small macau actually is? it’s not hard to find someone, plus* if they want to find someone how hard can it be? plus they are very rich, and according to everything Ji Hoo is always there for Jan Di no matter what happens.

    14. Did anyone else feel in the beginning, the bulling against Jan Di was TOO intense? Especially when those boys pulled the chain and she flew off of her bike? In real life, Jan Di could have cracked her skull and gotten really hurt—it was TOO unrealistic, right?

Try watching the Taiwan and Jap version of the bulling, The bike part was crazy but other then that the bulling part is nothing compared to the other versions. Even Jun Pyo’s mom is the nicest one out of the three. (it’s not suppose to be realistic)

  2. Jayce says:

I have something to say, before you say that a series is not good, try finishing it all first.

With all the questions you asked, it seems that you did not understand the whole series.

  3. Roshni says:

OMG!! When I read your entry I cracked up. I feel almost exactly the same!

Goo Hye Sun really can’t act. Every episode i am amazed that she is still there. Surely they should replace her with someone who can do something other than be sad ALL THE TIME. I finished the series today and once you do I can forsee a whole load of more questions. What I never got is how any of them every do anything related to school or studying or futher education when all they think about is thier life partners (at the age of 19/20 no less).

The series has only done so well because it appeals to it’s target audience of straight any aged women. Even though all Ji Hoo does is stare and have strange orange hair, F4 are not at all bad to look at. And I can even stand the words that they have to say, as long as I pretend that they aren’t all being saps who have no backbone. Wimpy men are just strange. But when they look like that I can forgive them of almost anything (even being more girly than me).

I do understand that it doesn’t reflect real life and that it is fiction and fantasy but a smidgen of reality would really have helped it, at least with me. The first problem I ever had was the name of their group. No self respecting bunch of late-teenage boys would ever have the name ‘flower’ in thier group. Seriously. That just cracked me up. Always did, no matter how many time I heard it.

Jan Di was an idiot, throughout most of it. I am sorry that I am harping on about her again but I just can’t help it. With all the jobs she had to do and all the ‘school’ she atteneded, how was she ever able to do anything else like go on dates?

And I know that physical affection differes from country to country and culture to culture but why, when the two leads kiss, do their lips not move at all?

And, yeah, Lee Min Hoo is delicious. Really delicious. Yumm…..

  4. fruitsandberries says:

    @lalala
you are just trying to justify the drama now. Especially #’s 1,2,4,5,11,12, and 13. No specific answer. I didn’t read the comic, I’m watching the drama. When something goes from comic form to film, things must be changed….but besides all that, come on with some of those answers, really? If i had no legs at all I could paddle in with my arms, if I had no arms at all I could lay on my back and paddle with my legs.

    @jayce
I’m on Ep. 18, and with that, I think I have the right to say the drama is horrible.

Both of you^^, typical butthurt fans who like the drama and are pissed because I don’t.

  5. changsta says:

lol what an open mind you have. no one here is pissed, we’re just saying our own opinions. why are you watching it if you don’t like it? I don’t even think you understand half the drama if you still have those questions. There were definitely explained. And korean dramas are always like this, it’s a fact of life.

  6. lalalalalalalala says:

Seriously, no one is pissed around here, you got questions so i took the time to answer them. Everyone has their own likes and dislikes, the drama is not that hard to understand anyways. some parts can and may have done better but either way. your still watching it, but our of curiosity why and what makes you continue with the drama when your so unhappy with it?

  7. fruitsandberries says:

Why? I realized at around episode 6 that the drama is terrible. I watch it because it’s the number 1 hit in Korea and I feel that it’s something I should see, also I felt a little “left out” on a lot of posts on Kpop blogs because I didn’t know anything about the drama, also, as I stated in my blog entry that I really like Lee Min Ho.

Have I given you enough reasons? I don’t have a problem with any of the stars (except GHS), I have a problem with the screenwriter and the director.

I understand whats going on in the drama (for example that the Model guy left), but the logic of the show is what i dont understand. Yes, Jandi couldnt swim because of a leg cramp, but she couldve easily swam without her one leg.

I understand the drama, I’m watching it with my own eyes and ears but the flow of it is bad. Bad bad bad. And thats all there is to it.

  8. lalalalalalalala says:

This is a never ending convo, and I’m not interested in arguing or offend anyone around here. Lee min ho is hot. Just keep in mind drama’s are superficial as a viewer we can’t be too realistic while watching these dramas

  9. JT says:

I believe this drama is flawed but your statements are quite inconsistent. If you don’t get the scenes, don’t say that they are unanswered questions, just because you too shallow to comprehend it. Here it goes:
    1. Why did Woo Bin have that memory on the bridge? What did it have to do to anything? What was Yi Jung talking about in that memory?
*Woo Bin’s memory was leading into the next scene. We see Woo Bin at his worst times with Yi Jung never leaving his side. This correlates the next scene, where Yi Jung’s having his bad moments, with Woo Bin sticking by him. That was pretty simple.
    2. Whatever happened to that model/actor guy? Was Jun Pyo’s mother behind the whole scheme?
*Yes, it is even said in the drama that Jun Pyo’s mum paid Jae Ha, therefore she was behind the whole scheme.
    3. Who did the actor guy supposedly look like?
*DUHH! His brother. Who else? The brother who in the first episode was saved by Jan Di.
    4. Why is everyone in this show deaf and can never hear when someone walks up behind them?
*This question doesn’t make sense. And its reality to be honest. Havent that ever happened to you?
    5. Why does Ga Eul always show up to Yi Jung’s house unannounced?
*There are times when Yi Jung calls her up. Let me ask you a question, does Jun Pyo ever call Jan Di before coming over her house? Stupid question.
    6. Why didn’t Yi Jung think of this new pottery girl before?
*His remembrance of Eun Jae was triggered by his family problems. She was the only one who understood him and could always find him. That was simple too.
    7. Why didn’t Jun Pyo just tell Jan Di why he punched out Ga Eul’s ex?
*Because Ga Eul’s ex was saying rude remarks about Jan Di. Jun Pyo doesn’t want her to know that. Duh!
    8. Why would Seo Hyun, a stunning, international actress date a high school senior 5+ years her junior?
*She never dated him. She was his first love. Their relationship in Paris was ambiguous. Plus, she’s 3 years older (given from the official kbs website). And if she did, who cares? Age doesn’t matter for love. Are you really that shallow and superficial?
    9. Why are Yi Jung, Ji Hoo, Woo Bin and Jun Pyo always at the high school when they should be at university?
*The university is in the same place as the high school, if you want argue, please double check your knowledge first.
    10. Does anyone else hate and love Ha Jae Kyung all at the same time?
*In my opinion Jae Kyung’s character is one to love – as opposed to hate. I think her sacrifice for her best friend is to be commended for.
    11. Why does Jan Di keep passing out in the snow when she goes looking for Jun Pyo’s neckalace?
*Note, she passed out once, she stumbled the rest of the times. And its called, hypothermia and when they’re in the mountains(snow) it has a higher altitude – therefore not much oxygen, esp when she’s running.
    12. Why does Jan Di always end up drowning when she’s supposed to be a champion swimmer? Shouldn’t she know how to tread water? 1st time was a leg cramp, paddle with your arms, 2nd time was shoulder cramp, kick with your legs.
*How can you paddle your arms if your legs are cramped? It gives anxiety. Plus, it wasn’t a shoulder cramp.
    13. How did the F3 know exaclty where Jan Di was in Macau that they came to save the day?
    *Easy. Woo Bin’s connections. DUH!
    14. Did anyone else feel in the beginning, the bulling against Jan Di was TOO intense? Especially when those boys pulled the chain and she flew off of her bike? In real life, Jan Di could have cracked her skull and gotten really hurt—it was TOO unrealistic, right?
*No, bullying like this happens everywhere in the world. There’s even worse types of bullying.

  10. […] I still stand by what I said in my previous entry, I have to agree with some of the commentors on finsihing the drama before my judgement. Why did […]

  11. Nesohawkins says:

I just wanna say…I had fun reading ALL of the entries here…Had a laugh…

  12. Svenus says:

people come on…please the Drama suposed to be lighthearted, funny, and be pure fantasy…please don’t take it to serioulsy….I have watch the other versions and I really like the twist and turns on this versions….yes the PD/writers could have done a better job with the editing and writing…but overall the drama I think its job of pulling in its vierwers in a fantasy worls where all of us would like to be….I wish they make a 2 season or a special just to see JunDi wedding…..that all folks!!!!

  13. fruitsandberries says:

I actually red somewhere that there is SUPPOSED to be a season 2…
    http://www.aznsource.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=23&p=46271
I also read it a couple other places…so there is going to be a season 2! Supposedy it should start filming by 2010!

  14. AA says:

i agree with JT. they cant have answered the questions better.
fruitsandberries obviously skipped scenes or even whole episodes since almost all of their questions is answered in the drama.

like svenus said, its a lighthearted drama not to be taken seriously and literally.

  15. fruitsandberries says:

    way to assume.

I never once fast forwarded that drama, and as I said in the next post, I watched that drama from beginning to end, even rewinding some parts. the drama left lots of things in the air. period.

  16. WOOTWOOT says:

ROFLLL thats funny, but they do have answers..and come on its not that bad! don’t take it so seriously just enjoy the show :3..if you don’t like it then stop watching it XD
“Why is everyone in this show deaf and can never hear when someone walks up behind them? & How did the F3 know exactly where Jan Di was in Macau that they came to save the day?” HAHAHA its true XD
but guys..remember…ITS A FICTIONAL STORY..so it doesn’t matter 😛 I thought it was funny and cute..unrealistic but still enjoyable 😀

  17. LMHGHS says:

@fruitsandberries are u sure you watched it intensely and properly? because if you did you should not have asked some of those questions you posted. shame!! some of them were IMPLIED in the scenes. You just have to have common sense to understand them.. ahaha.. shame on you…

  18. LMHGHS says:

it just makes me laugh reading the comments of fruitandberries.. you better watch it again and this time pay attention to every details. if you don’t like it then stop watching. its not really meant to be taken seriously.. these are all fictions.. and it is sometimes good to escape from reality once in a while..

  19. fruitsandberries says:

SO BUTTHURT THAT YOU COMMENTED TWICE.

    THANKS FOR THE COMMENT.

The drama was gay, the story line was gay and you’re really gay for commenting twice.

    Have a nice day! =)

  20. vahdan says:

through all you said ,which i agree with some of them , it was not that bad . Take it easy .

  21. lauren says:

i love the show. it has the cutest romances.

  22. raiine says:

    “way to assume.

I never once fast forwarded that drama, and as I said in the next post, I watched that drama from beginning to end, even rewinding some parts. the drama left lots of things in the air. period.”

Hi fruitsandberries, may i ask how old u are? Do u really use ur brain to THINK while watching the drama? Because some of the answers are logical if you can think for yourself. I don’t mean to offend u, but don’t u realise that u’re asking a lot of “why?” questions when u werent thinking in the first place?

E.g. Whatever happened to that model/actor guy? Was Jun Pyo’s mother behind the whole scheme?
There was a last scene with him whereby he passed by Jan Di in school after the whole incident. He told her that YiHoo is the one for her, then he left. Were u really curious about what happened to him after that? He’s not one of the main leads in BOF, so you cant assume the director/screenwriter will show u his after story. After the incident, he probably carried on with his normal life. And if you’re assuming something will happen to him, nothing did and he wasn’t caught by police or whatever for hurting JanDi & JunPyo. JP’s mom was the mastermind right? Would she go to the police? THINK. Obviously, nothing happened after that so why are u asking?

    Another e.g.
Why didn’t Jun Pyo just tell Jan Di why he punched out Ga Eul’s ex?
If u have a boyfriend u loved deeply, u won’t want to hurt his feelings or make him feel inferior to u right? (This type of human behaviour is pretty much common sense)

    Last e.g.
Why is everyone in this show deaf and can never hear when someone walks up behind them?
This is common human behaviour. Especially if people are immersed in thinking or something else and DIDNT REALISE. If u have eyes at the back of ur head, MAYBE u might realise someone is behind even if ur ears didnt realise.

On an ending note, I do agree that the directing/editing could be better. I’m a fan of Lee Min Ho but i don’t think his acting is good either. None of the leads are professionals anyway and a few aren’t even experienced actors, so their average acting is understandable. P.S. I do hope u will be able to better think and evaluate things the next time u watch dramas. God bless.

  23. […] the hell is my Boys Over Flowers post (where I talk about how shitty of a drama it was) the #1 most active and 2nd commented post on my […]

  24. mamae says:

its a comic series, fiction, that is why the plot is so unrealistic, if you wanna watch some brain twister series or real heavy true to life drama, stop watching BOF, watch, National Geographics or Discovery Channel or better yet watch CNN news for 24 hrs.

  25. jasmine says:

WTF!!!!!!!! IT NOT BORING IT AMAZING AND SAD AND FUNNY AS HELL SOOOO WACH THE SHOW VERY CLOSELY K!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! =[

  26. Heidi says:

Did you fully pay attention to the show? Sometimes I will miss the little stuff then look back and realize my question was actually answered. A lot of the questions you asked were actually answered if you think of the characters and their interactions plus some were just blantantly answered. For instance, numbers 2, 3, 5, 7, 8, 9, 12, and 13. Number 3 was answered through a flash back and the model guy confirming it. I’m pretty sure in Macau they were following her / keeping an eye on her. However a lot of the answers are supposed to be found by the viewer by usingdeduction based on the characters’ personalities. I agree on number 14 though the bullying was very intense. However in the beginning it did show that bullying at the school almost caused a guy to commit suicide so I guess it could be assumed that bullying there is extra intense because of his wounds and everything.

  27. noel says:

u fool how the hell can u say dat the show sux widout watching d whole series think before u leap and den pour out ur stupid question and to all those who answered those questions hats off to u guyzzz……………..BOYS B4 FLOWERS ROCKZZZ AND ITS MY FAVOURITE……<3 ❤ <3……

  28. Darron Reichenberg says:

Leg cramps, also known as night leg cramps, especially calf-muscle cramps, are fairly common. Some people experience cramps in the muscles of their feet, as well as their thigh muscles. In most cases these types of cramps occur while the individual is sleeping or resting. *

  29. Jamie says:

True I really really dislike this drama. What is all this fuss about? I mean, this drama is basically a fan fic of a ditzy girl with a temper tantrum who always gets into trouble and before she dies 4 heroic boys save her. What kind of drama plot is that? And the acting is terrible, the only reason I watched it to the end was to see what was so good about it. I was really relived when the drama ended.

  30. Yasmin says:

Omg I thought the bullying parts were so dramatic. I think they were going for serious but I was laughing the entire time. What I can’t get over is they make it seem like they are about to kiss but no he is getting something. Your questions are so funny and true. They talk about personal matters and no one can hear them; even though people are inches from them.

  31. topumasum says:

I agree with you. I watched the whole series and i wanted to skip them so badly but didnt otherwise the fans will come up with the same bullshit “you didnt even watch the whole series to understand it”. so i did…and i wanted to vomit. worst drama ever.

  32. TEEHEE says:

One reason I think this drama was stupid was a boy in the first episode was literally bullied to the point where he attempted suicide and the girl who saves him falls in love with the guy who pushed that kid to suicide… this drama is like physical and mental abuse and you have crazy fans who I guess are turned on by that.

  33. AwesomeA says:

Its too late to comment…. but i just started watchin kdramas….. and honestly d drama had its best parts and d worst parts……. but d one thing tht kept me hooked to it was soeul couple…. thy r just adorable…. wish v had more of thr scenes……

But as thr wer many ques here let me add some which i want to knw…. why did gaeul leave d hand warmer outside yi jung’s studio?
Wht is exactly wrong wit yi jung’s mom?
Why did tht model girl leave ji hoo whn she liked him?
How can ji hoo not recognize his grandpa whn he sees him comin out of jandi’s shop?
